FBR Open and Thunderbirds - What do they mean?
The Thunderbirds is the name of the local civic organization that sponsors the annual FBR (Phoenix) Open on the PGA TOUR. The Thunderbirds are well-known in Arizona as one of the leading philanthropic organizations in the state.
Each year, the delegates and other volunteers of the Phoenix Panhellenic Association (PPA) donate time to work at the FBR (Phoenix) Open. Volunteers perform a variety of duties, primarily manning concession stands. In exchange, the Phoenix Thunderbirds generously donate money to PPA's yearly Scholarship Fund.
Become a volunteer and recruit your husband, family, neighbors and friends to work one shift (6 hours) at the FBR Open January 26-February 1, 2009. You don’t have to be Greek to participate.
Volunteers = Shifts worked = Thunderbird Donation = Scholarships
If the knowledge that you are helping the Scholarship Program isn’t enough, don’t forget that all volunteers receive a free week-long pass to attend the Open.
Signups forms for the 2009 FBR Open are not yet available, but will be posted on this website as the date draws closer. Please keep checking back or request information from your Panhellenic delegate.
